Yet another overdrive pedal in the world.
This circuit is based on several techniques utilized in various historic overdrive pedals. The goal was to create a versatile circuit capable of interacting with different types of instruments besides guitars.
The core of it is a symmetric diode clipping circuit, with the option between silicon and germanium diodes. It incorporates a clipping threshold control, variable active single pole HPF and LPF at the input stage and a Baxandall equalizer at the output stage.
Schematics and BOM in the GitHub repository.
Side-note: I've used it in my album Path to process drum machines and synths.
Here are some pictures of the prototype:
The enclosure and knobs where made with my custom 3D printer.
There's room for lots of improvements: designing and building a proper PCB, better enclosure, change the input filters to VCF's, change the behaviour of the clipping threshold. Nevertheless I like the sound of it, the foundations are solid and it works very well with any source.
